Amy King, PA-C
Amy King is a certified physician assistant with St. Vincent Family Health Center. She’s been a Leadville practitioner since 2007, starting her career with Rocky Mountain Family Practice.
Amy grew up in Longmont and earned her bachelor’s in microbiology, with a minor in Spanish, from Colorado State University. Her graduate studies for her physician assistant certification took her to Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Ill. Amy’s love for both science, and people, attracted her to her chosen field.
“I was drawn to family medicine because I have a passion for helping individuals and families from birth to end of life,” says Amy. “Family medicine allows me to really connect with people and families in many ways, beyond providing their acute and primary care.”
Her patient care philosophy is to treat the whole patient. She looks at different ways to help by integrating secondary wellness services into their care. “I support my patients in living the life they want by helping them optimize their health and wellbeing,” she says.
She and her husband Kevin, a chiropractor, chose Leadville for its mountain lifestyle and to be a part of small community to get to know patients and families well, while providing them with a vital service. “Primary care is essential to our community,” she says. “It allows patients access to quality medical care without having to leave the county.”
When Amy isn’t treating patients, she’s likely outdoors enjoying the hiking, skiing and mountain biking that Lake County has to offer. She and her husband are parents to three growing children, and the family is working on completing the Colorado Trail.
